Tokyo University of the Arts Ceramics Course at Colby-Sawyer College

Students and faculty members from ceramic course of Tokyo University of the Arts were attended on Colby-Sawyer College's campus for a one-week residency in September 2016.

One of the main events of this artists in residence programme was an international ceramics exhibition called "Breaking the Mold: A Collaborative Exhibition with Tokyo University of the Arts¡É. The exhibition features contemporary ceramic artworks created by teaching staff and students of the Tokyo University of the Arts (JAPAN) and Colby-Sawyer College, and guest artworks by faculty and students from Dartmouth College, New Hampshire Institute of Art and John Stark Regional High School (USA).

On Monday, 19th September, there was a series of presentation by students from Tokyo University of the Arts at the Marian Graves Mugar Art Gallery and a slide presentation by Takato Sasaki (Tokyo University of the Arts) at the Sawyer Fine Arts Center's Art History Room, Department of Fine and Performing Arts, Colby-Sawyer College. There was also a special wheel throwing demonstration of large vessel forms by ceramic artist and Professor Makoto Toyofuku (Tokyo University of the Arts) in Sawyer Fine Arts Center's Gordon Hall at 4pm, followed by an exhibition opening reception in the gallery, at 5pm.
